Mooses

By Harvey Skunklove

OK People,

This here will be my blog while I’m in Colorado. It doesn’t look like I’ll be able to post to this blog from my iPhone as I’d hoped, but hopefully there will be enough computer access at the campaign office in Fort Collins for me to post regular updates and anecdotes. Crazy people slamming doors in my face, terrifyingly kind people who bake me pie, and mooses. I imagine there will be mooses. I’ll try and stay away from punditry or prostelytizing – there are wiser analysts than I and most of you already know who you’re voting for already anyway – and instead focus on what it looks like on the ground, the characters I work alongside, and general social commentary.

But for now I’m just trying to get my ducks in a row before I take off tomorrow evening. Close out my desk, get my subletter in and settled, pack – just the standard logistical nightmares of packing up and leaving for a month.

Even with all the headaches, this trip is something that I sorely need: to work hard for a cause that’s important to me. People ask me again and again if I know what I’ll be doing when I get there, but truthfully? I’m clueless. I could end up with blistered knuckles from repeated doorknocking or I may end up managing press events. Obviously I’d prefer the latter to the former, but in the end I’ll help how I can; it’s not about me. And while the complete lack of clarity on what this will entail has been unnerving over the last few weeks, I find myself now, with a day to go, happy for it.

I have no idea what I’m getting into, and in my experience that means I’m onto something good.
